Arrive at Tuan Chau Marina after a 2.5-hour drive (if using our transfer). Embark on Grand Pioneers Cruise at noon. Enjoy a welcome drink at Cloud Nine restaurant while the cruise manager gives a short briefing about safety and cruise.

Afternoon
Lunch is served in the restaurant while the yacht cruises to Halong Bay. The first stop is Sung Sot Cave. You have around 1 hour to discover the largest cave in Halong Bay with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. If the excursion do not take your fancy, don't miss a bunch of services and facilities onboard such as La Spa, swimming pool, bar, 3D golf simulator, cigar club, poker, library, etc. After the visit, you back to Grand Pioneers Cruise to savor the canepe and join the Happy Hour with a long list of cocktails, wine, and other drinks.

After the lunch break, return to Halong Bay and visit Pearl Farm Exhibition Center and Museum. You get back to Grand Pioneers Cruise at around 3:30 - 3:45 pm. Enjoy sunset and Happy Hour time.

  • 1 (one) child under 4 years old sharing a cabin with 1 (one) adult must pay full fare as an adult.
  • The Child Rate for children from 4 to 11 years old is applicable for 1 (one) child sharing a cabin with 2 (two) adults (No extra Mattress): 50%
  • The Child Rate for children from 4 to 11 years old is applicable for 1 (one) child sharing a cabin with 2 (two) adults (With extra Mattress): 75%
  • Children aged 12 and above must pay full fare as an adult.
  • Peak season surcharge: Surcharge VND 50USD/night applies for travel date on 30th April, 1st May, 30th August – 1st Sep 2025, 24th December and 31st December and Vietnamese Lunar Tet Holiday (16, 17, 18, 19/02/2026)
  • On the second day you will travel on a day boat and do not have access to the mother boat and your cabin until later in the afternoon (for 3 days/2 nights itinerary)

Dear Krzysztof Tomaszewski, Regarding your request for a 3 person cabin, we have two options for you:

- Option 1: Ocean Suite Triple. This cabin is specifically designed for 3 people. However, please note that this category does not have a balcony (it has a large ocean-view window instead).

- Option 2: Cabins with Balcony. If a private balcony is important to you, you can choose from our other cabin categories. For these rooms, we can easily arrange an extra bed to comfortably accommodate 3 guests.

Dear Sharmin Kalam, For a family of four with young children, we recommend the Executive Suite with an extra rollaway bed on the Grand Pioneers Cruise. Please note that transfers from the Grande Collection are not included in the cruise rate. We offer a shuttle bus for $35 USD per person round trip, or a private car can be arranged upon request. I sent you the itinerary via email for your reference. You will return to the pier around 10:45 AM and arrive back in Hanoi between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM the following day. Best regards, Helen

I have a few questions I would like to confirm: 1. I saw in the comments that there is a free extra bed service. I will be traveling with 2 adults and 2 babies (3 and 5 years old). May I book a twin-bed room and request the free extra bed service? 2. Following the previous question, may I book the Ocean Suite Balcony (Partial View) – Twin room? I am hesitating between the Ocean Suite Balcony (Partial View) and the Ocean Suite Triple. The balcony is very appealing, but the triple room seems more comfortable for sleeping since it has three beds. 3. For my trip, I will stay at Mercure Hanoi La Gare before the cruise and Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi Centre after the cruise. Are these hotels within the pickup/drop-off area? I am planning to book the Private MPV Hanoi – Halong – Hanoi (USD 180 per car). 4. Is the complimentary massage service provided on the cruise ship, or at another location? 5. How is the weather in Hanoi in January? Is it suitable for swimming in the water during the cruise? 6. Why are the prices in January higher than in December? Dear Mr. Nick, I'm pleased to answer your questions as below:
1. You can certainly book one cabin and request an extra bed. However, please note that the extra bed is not free of charge. In fact, all cruises typically charge an extra fee for an extra bed; could you please kindly double-check this information?

2. If you prefer the Ocean Suite Balcony (Partial View) cabin, you can book this and request an extra bed. We do not charge an extra fee for a 3-year-old child if they sleep with their parents. You may let the child sleep with you to save on costs.

3. Regarding the transfer service, both of your hotels are located within our standard pickup points, so we can pick you up directly from your hotel. Please do not worry about this.

4. Our free massage voucher is only applicable at our partner Spa in Hanoi and cannot be used for the Spa service on the cruise.

5. The weather in Hanoi and Halong in January will be quite cold. However, it might be slightly warmer at sea, and the pool on the cruise is a four-season heated pool, so you can still swim. Nevertheless, you should still bring some warm clothes to ensure you and your child do not catch a cold.

6. Regarding the room cost increase, I would like to inform you that the Grand Pioneers Cruise has decided to raise their prices starting next year, and consequently, we also have to adjust our rates. This is why you may notice the price next year is slightly higher than this year's price.

Dear Hao Jiang, The one-way shuttle bus transportation from Halong Bay to Hanoi is USD 18 per person. Please note that this service is exclusively available for drop-offs within the Hanoi Old Quarter area. If you require transportation to Hanoi International Airport, we can arrange a connecting car service from a drop-off point in Hanoi to the airport. The estimated time of arrival (ETA) back to Hanoi city center is typically between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. For arrivals at the airport, the ETA is usually around 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Best regards, Tracy

Therefore, if you have a flight at 12:00 PM (noon), you may not have enough time. Dear Serey Uk, We do not offer direct transfers to Da Nang Airport after the cruise. However, we can arrange a drop-off at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) or Cat Bi Airport (Hai Phong). It was our first trip to Vietnam and Halong Bay was definitely highly recommended. The scenery was fantastic. The tour with Grand Pioneers was well organized and smooth. We were totally relaxed throughout the tour. The cabin was as advertised. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was superb with alternatives for my seafood allergy. Thank you very much.

Our family spent 1 night on Grand Pioneers. The vessel was large and luxurious like a floating 5-star hotel. The activities and facilities were suite for all ages. Spa and kid room were excellent for families. Halong Bay was gorgeous. Cant miss it in Vietnam.

A surprising gift I gifted to my fiancée - Grand Pioneers cruise. The staff made it extra special. They prepared some little surprises during dinner, amazing. It was a memorable experience. Friendly staff. Amazing scenery surrounded us, we could enjoy these views from every angle on the ship. Really appreciate the staff (Nick, Lucy, Tony, Tom), totally worth the money.

To begin with, we were picked up by a VIP limousine. The driver went inside the hotel lobby to pick us up and dropped us off in front of the waiting lounge after a journey of approximately 2.5 hour driving. We couldn't believe how beautiful the ship was, it must be a super yacht. The whole interior and design were completely different from what we had ever experienced. I really appreciated the effort of the staff as they tried to do their job well while always keeping a smile on their faces. All the activities were planned wisely, they always knew the perfect time to start an activity. I wish I could extend my trip for another night instead of 2D1N as originally planned.

What are the differences between 3 Days/2 Nights (Legacy Journey - Odd Date) and Day Boat - Even Date?

2 Grand Pioneers vessels organize 2 different 3 day/2 night programs. The differences are below:

  • Visiting area:

- Legacy Journey: Bai Tu Long Bay & Halong Bay with stops at Thien Canh Son Cave - Cap La - Da Xep Nature Park - Vung Vieng Fishing Village - Sung Sot Cave or Titop Island
- Day Boat: Only Ha Long Bay with stops at Sung Sot Cave - Trinh Nu Cave -  Pearl Farm Exhibition Center - Luon Cave

  • Schedule:

- Legacy Journey: You are not transferred to a day boat for excursions on Day 2 as the Grand Pioneers vessel sails continuously on the bay without returning to the pier.
- Day Boat: You are transferred to a day boat for excursions from 8:30 am to 3:45 pm on Day 2 while Grand Pioneer Cruise returns to the pier to drop off 1-night guests and pick up new guests. You will not have access to your cabin during this time but your cabin is guaranteed to be safe.

  • Travel date:

- Legacy Journey: Only on Odd dates
- Day Boat: Only on Even dates
