Day 1: Hanoi - Halong Bay - Lan Ha Bay
Morning:

Get picked up from your hotel (in or near Hanoi Old Quarter and not included in cabin price). Pick up time is between 8:30 - 9:00 am. Follow the newest highway connecting Hanoi and Ha Long. The road trip takes around 2.5 hours.

Upon arrival at Tuan Chau Marina, passengers will be welcomed by hospitable staff at Orchid Cruise’s lounge. After enjoying a special cup of tea, around 12.15pm, Orchid tender will transfer tourists to the main boat Orchid Cruise.

Afternoon::

After check-in onboard, you will receive cruise briefing and safety instructions. Lunch will be served in the luxury restaurant on board - as you savor the exquisite Vietnamese and international cuisines, the cruise will slowly head pass beautiful islets in Halong Bay such as Da Chong, Con Vit, and Gia Luan.

Get on by to access Trung Trang Cave - the largest valley on Cat Ba Island with beautiful stalactites. After that, you will have an opportunity to swim in the crystal water of Tra Bau Area.

Later return to our cruise to watch the amazing sunset over the Gulf of Tonkin. Cooking demonstration will be held on board, or enjoy our happy hour at our Bar.

You will cycle along the village (or use an electric car) to explore the daily life of its fishermen. At 12:00am, lunch will be served.

Afternoon:

In the afternoon, Orchid Cruise will bring tourists to an untouched area of Lan Ha Bay where you can feel free to immerse in the crystal clear water. At 5:00pm, passengers will return to the main boat for resting and enjoying the seascape.

Evening:

For your questions: (1) The bus cannot pick you up right at the train station but you can walk to Mercure La Gare hotel (about 100m from the station) to have breakfast there and wait for the bus. As far as I know the hotel serves breakfast for $10/person and you can have a rest at the lounge too until the bus picks you up. (2) The bus will pick you up at Mercure hotel at about 8.00am and if the train is late, we can wait until 8.30am but as per our experience, the train from Sapa will not too late until 8.00am (unless there is disaster such as flood or landslide in Sapa and stop all the trains). As per the update, Orchid Classic Cruise is fully booked on 22 Nov already so can you please consider Orchid Trendy Cruise as an alternative? According to your question, please note that the train is not very likely to get delayed so the scheduled arrival at 05:25 a.m would be safe for you to catch up with the pickup time. Dear Ole, Thank you for your question and I hope this email finds you well. Please find the answers as following. The pick up time for shuttle bus is 8:15-8:45am. For drop-off, you will reach Hanoi between 2:30pm-3:00pm. Our bus can only drop off in Hanoi Old Quarter. If you wish to book a flight after the cruise trip please book one after 5:30pm to avoid rushing between places. OR you can fly from Hai Phong which is closer to Halong Bay. Cost for shuttle bus round trip is 40 USD/person. It is normally cool but not cold at this time of the year. The cost for wine is between 4-7$ depending on what you take. If you reach Hanoi airport at 7:30am without flight delay, you can still make it for the same day cruise. However we can only private transfer for route Airport - Halong which is $120. Please kindly be advised that Orchid cruise departs from Got ferry in Hai Phong while Seaplane departs from Tuan Chau Marina so they are far from each other around 1-hour drive. If you want to take Seaplane you should choose the cruise which departs from Tuan Chau, so after cruise tour, the staff from the Seaplane office will drive an electric car to the cruise port to pick you up (subject to availability). If you still want to take the Orchid cruise then you need to book a private car to Tuan Chau marina to take Hai Au tour. Furthermore, there is only one time-frame for the shuttle bus to back to Hanoi which is at 11:30 AM. Therefore, if you do a Scenic tour by seaplane, you need to arrange the transfer back to Hanoi by yourself or we can arrange a private car for you. One child can share bed with parent and the 2 year old child can get a free baby cot. If you still want to add an extra mattress for the 4 years old child, it is still ok but with higher fee. Besides, please note that Orchid Cruise is in Hai Phong and it takes 2,5 hours transfer only. Actually, nowadays, it takes around 2,5 hours to transfer to Halong only as well since the new highway has been launched and almost all of the cruises start going this way instead. The check-in time is 11:30 AM and normally it takes around 2,5 hours transfer from Hanoi to the pier thus I am sorry that if you arrive at 9:20 AM, it is quite late actually. The cruise can surely arrange the cot and high chair in the restaurant for your baby. I would recommend you to take 2 days 1 night trip only since for 3 days 2 nights trip, on the second day you will transfer to a day boat for activities and it is not suitable for children. For 2 days 1 night trip, you can consider to take the activities or stay in your cabin for rest. However, the itinerary of Orchid Cruise is mainly for relaxing thus I hope it is not a big matter for your family. The dinner is at around 7:30 PM. However, if you need to prepare the meals for her earlier, you can ask the restaurant and please inform them soon for the best assistance. For the life jacket, I am sorry that there is only one size for children. You can bring her own life jacket along if needed. The stairs are safe, no worries. The transfer time between Hanoi - Orchid Cruise is around 2,5 hour and you will have a break on the way. I am sorry that the shuttle service is for hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter only. We arrive at the Hanoi airport at 7:50am on 21 May 2018, and are hoping to be able to book the 2 day 1 night cruise for that day (May 21-22). Would it be possible to book a private car from the airport in Hanoi to the cruise port (my research shows that the one way fare in a private car is about $70-$75 each way), and then we will just take the shuttle service back to Hanoi on the 22nd (for $20)? We can surely arrange the private transfer to pick you up from the airport straight to the cruise (total transfer cost for this option is $140 round trip including express way toll fee). However as you arrive early, I suggest we just picks up from the airport and bring you to Hanoi Old Quarter. You can leave your luggage at your hotel or our office, then have breakfast/coffee break until being picked up at 9:30am by the limousine bus service. This way it will cost you $95 in total for transfer and at a much more comfortable arrangement. I hope this information is helpful and please let me know if you have any other questions! Thank you for your question and I am glad to know that you are visiting Halong Bay this November. Orchid cruise shuttle bus cost $40/person/ round trip and it's a very good limousine service. However the bus only drops off in Hanoi Old Quarter around 2:00pm. In case you wish to go directly to the airport, the cost for private transfer round trip is $150. If you are not rushed for time, it's best to return to Hanoi to collect your luggage and then take a taxi to the airport. This will save you extra budget on transfer fee. Dear Ms Lee Jihye, Thank you for your contacting us. As I am not sure if your flight may have delay or not, I suggest you wait until closer to your trip date to confirm your flight details. Also you are arriving in Hanoi at 9:30am which will be rather late for all cruises including Orchid. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach Dinh Vu port from Noi Bai airport. Our bus cannot pick up from Hai Phong Airport but we can arrange the private car for you that picks up from Hai Phong Airport. Dear So-Jeong Kim, Thank you for your email and our cost for one way transfer from Haiphong airport to Orchid cruise is US $ 29 per one way by private 4 seat car for 2 persons. I am so sorry as our cost at US $ 20 per car is our old cost and transfer cost has risen recently. I highly recommend you to book the flight depart at 08.30AM just in case of the flight delay. It is around 30 minutes transfer from Haiphong airport to Orchid cruise. The cruise will leave the pier at around noon time 11.30 - 12.00 as latest time. At the moment, we still have 01 Suite balcony cabin available on your trip date- 18June for 2days 1night with the cost at US $ 360 for 2 persons travelling. May I know if you need the return trip back to Hanoi? if yes, you can consider our shuttle bus with the cost at US $ 20 per person. Thank you! Hello, I would like to book at 2D1N cruise on Tuesday 18th July. We are planning on flying from Da Nang to either Hanoi or Hai Phong on the Tuesday morning, go on the cruise, then stay in Hanoi for a few days afterwards. Firstly, is it better to fly to Hai Phong on the Tuesday morning (arrive at 9:45am) and arrange a transfer from there to the Orchid Cruise pier, instead of flying to Hanoi? Dear Joe Reid, Thank you for your email! However, as I have checked, Orchid cruise is fully booked on 18 July thus can you change the date to 19 instead? If yes, you can flight to Hai Phong instead of Hanoi to save time for driving. It is only about 30 minutes from Hai Phong airport to Orchid cruise pier. If it is Hai Phong Airport, we can pick you up from the airport and the fee is only $29/car and it's about 10km away from the pier. Hello, How long is the drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay? On other sites they say it is a four-hour journey each way but some of the answers for your tour appear to say this is only 2.5 hours. Dear Ms. Jaeyeon Lee, Thank you for your question. A private MPV will be more private, but the shuttle bus seat is also very comfortable as it's luxury limousine. If you prefer privacy I suggest you go with a private car. If you don't mind the bus going around picking up a few other passengers, the bus is very comfortable as well. Time-wise both are the same.

As Orchid bus is luxury limousine the price is quite higher than other shuttle bus service ($40/person/round trip) but you will surely enjoy the extra luxury. The bus can pick up and drop off from Hanoi Old Quarter area. You will be back to Hanoi around 2:00-2:30pm as it takes only 2.5 hours (or faster) for the transfer each way.

By the way, as your travelling with 2 little kids thus I highly recommend you to spend 2 days 1night cruise option instead of 3days 2nights as they are too small to join the second day. As on the second day, you will need to move to another boat (small boat) for cruise further and only return to the big boat in the late afternoon. Dear Ms. Jennifer, Thank you for your question It is correct that July is in monsoon season and there are chances that the trip can get cancelled due to bad weather. However, as per our experience July is still a good month to visit Halong Bay (bright and sunny for great activities), and the chance is very slim. Re your flight, you surely have enough time to take flight as it is only 2 hours driving from Hai Phong to Hanoi and you would arrive back hotel at 2pm then you can take a taxi to the airport for your flight. Dear Stephan, Thank you for your email and please kindly find my comments as below: - Our cost for round trip Hanoi airport -Halong - Hanoi city center is US $ 150 for 2 days1night/ private 4 seat car transfer - You can take one way private pick up from airport and return by luxury minivan, the cost is $130 in this case. It's best if you can fly to Hai Phong which is just 20 minutes from Orchid pier, that will save a considerable transfer cost for you! Dear Ms. Jacqueline, Thank you for contacting us. May I know if you are interested in 2 day or 3 day trip so I can send you the full itinerary? For your information, this is a brand new cruise with unique routing that departs from Hai Phong instead of Tuan Chau, meaning you have to spend less time on the road (only 3 hours instead of 4 hours)- its itinerary is the most unique in Halong Bay. All cabins are spacious 36sqm and have private balcony, promising a comfortable and pleasant trip. I hope this information is helpful and please let me know if you have any questions!

As your group is 7 it is best to arrange a private minivan for transfer to Halong Bay (cost $150) and we can surely pick you up from Movenpick hotel. If you have any question please let me know!

We were coming back home after a Halong Bay cruise tour. 3 of us, a couple with a daughter had a memorable 8th wedding anniversary together. We were concerned if my 5 year old daughter could join activities with us. But everything is smooth thanks to attentive help from Mr Quan - a service staff of the cruise. We had a memorable trip. We also would like to express our thanks to Mrs. Hannah for cleaning our cabin.

We think it would be better if all passengers were on the same boat during their trip instead of swapping them between boats. It wouldn’t affect their overall enjoyment.

With us, the restaurant was a bright point during our cruise journey. It served a special menu for a vegetarian like me. The food was very delicious and harmonized with the cozy ambiance. My wife and I had a romantic party and some special decorations in our cabin at the restaurant for our honeymoon trip.

We have just had a Halong Bay cruise tour for 3 days and 2 nights, that was an amazing cruise. Everything it brings exceeds all our expectations. We were so excited about the kayak tour that we had a chance to visit floating villages and listen to cultural stories from the locals. Jerry, my tour guide, was so thorough and made sure our trip went smoothly.
